I need help with the H-2. After years of sitting the barrel studs have fused with the cylinders. Soaking, heat [propane], vibration, nothing has worked. I have never had this problem before. I do not want to break/bend anything. Suggestions? If someone with the knowledge of applying JUST enough heat is out there, we could give that a try. I'm lost.

We need to find a voodoo doctor that can work on bikes. Until then, would heating the whole block in an oven help with thermal expansion and contraction? I'm thinking a machine shop with an annealing oven, but have a friend with a ceramics kiln as a last resort. Not sure about the firebox dimensions, but will inquire if you think it warrants it.

That would also heat the stud as well. One of the suggestions on the link I posted indicated it was better to try to heat the block separately from the bolt (as best as possible), which would keep the two from expanding/contracting at the same time, thus allowing a little wiggle rom between the parts, making it easier to remove the stud.

I would think the rate of expansion/shrinkage differ enough between the bolts and head for there to be some sort of sweet spot.
