Anyone have a tip or two on how you do this?

slap some pod filters on or open up your exhaust some...

Find out what jets you've got in 'em and get smaller ones. Be aware, though, that stock motorcycles tend to run pretty lean as is, straight from the factory. Making them even leaner will result in loss of power and serious engine troubles.
If you decide to get aftermarket exhaust cans, or pod filters or something, you can jet the carbs a bit and you'll get much more out of the engine. But again, if you lean them out too much, expect catastrophic engine failure in the future.

Why are you wanting to lean the carbs?

Why are you wanting to lean the carbs? That's what I was wondering, as well. Is this for the Suzuki 800? It seemed to be running pretty decently when you left the coffee shop last Sunday, kb850.

One side seems to be running a little rich, the other side seems weak. Gonna check the hose for the rear carb tomorrow, if it's alright then I will likely try to synch it (an experienced helper would be a great thing at this point)

What do your plugs look like? That'll be the biggest indicator right there. You'll be able to see if one carb is actually running richer than the other.
