Seat cowl and the rear fender are now off: Since I lost the mounting point for the tail lights and rear blinkers, I used zip ties to secure them to the frame, so the bike is at least operable. The license plate is fastened to the bottom of the seat using some 3M VHB (very high bond) tape I had on hand. I'm pretty much at a stopping point until I get parts. Considering an upgrade to progressive springs up front, to help with the nose dive under braking. If I do that I'll also upgrade the rear unit to something a bit less dated. Now, to list some stuff on Ebay.

Got this lovely 'drive off' side stand removed tonight. The bike already had a Brown side stand plus the center stand: I found a left headlight ear on Ebay, now just need a right one: I ordered replica R90s handlebars today upon the recommendation of a BMW enthusiast that also makes fiberglass radio control and BMW cafe parts in Garfield AR just South of Cassville. The guy had at least 25 BMW's and perhaps another 25 Honda's. www.boxercafe.com is his website, along with www.fiberglassspecialtiesinc.com. Bars ordered: And finally these fiberglass cafe parts: Friend of mine is a decent painter, and he'll tackle the parts above and the tank. The bikini fairing will bolt into the headlights, so it'll be simple to swap it around. Rode for about 20 minutes this evening, and was happy to feel much less dive under heavy braking. I think the 40 or so pounds that I removed from the front of the bike definitely made a difference, as The bike is noticeably lighter. And a little research showed that BMW used heavier front springs on the fully faired models. Since the handlebars are ordered, it's time to think about bar end mirrors. Riding today without mirrors drove me nuts. Thinking about these Napoleon mirrors from Amazon, but I'd appreciate opinions and other ideas.

I can't imagine a better bike to emulate than an R90S, especially with 35 years of technological progress. I'm really looking forward to seeing this one in the flesh. Buy me a cup of coffee some time and I'll regale you with my story about the one that got away.
