Any place local sell wheel bearings? I need to buy by size not by model for a custom hub/axle application. I need 2 52mm OD and 17mm ID sealed wheel bearings.

Hey YardMan, I'm not sure locally but McMasterCarr sell just about any size bearings you need and for around 5 bucks compared to a bike shop for 30 bucks. Check out their web site

I try to buy local as much as possible. I also work for a local bike shop. McMaster 52mm OD bearing come in 20mm ID at the smallest. I need a 17mm ID. I found one on the net that matches the size I need, but I don't know if it will take the load. Since none of the local companies have them available, I'm going to have to call them. My only other option is to have the swingarm slots opened up and run the stock Harley bearings and axle size.
Thanks for the heads up though!

There are numerous outfits here in Springfield that sell bearings for all sorts of applications. Let your fingers do the walking. But a word of caution when buying bearings....I would not order any online, unless they were guaranteed to be high quality American, Japanese, German or Swedish mfg. Open the box, look for country of origin, reject Chinese or unknown mfg. Take the bearing out of the package, feel the thing as you turn it in your fingers, for rough run-out. Chinese bearings won't get you very far, for very long. Really poor quality.
