I never have much trouble with the dmv, today they wanted me to get a notarized bill of sale because the purchase price was below 500, and that would have sucked, because the seller lives in lebanon. so they gave me the option to pay the sales tax on 500.00, i went with it even though thats bs. i needed to get on two wheels

Yup, that's there stupid new rule. They told me it was to protect form people falsifying the purchase price. I can't see any way a bill of sale helps that...

oh, a funny story... i pulled off all the turn signals because they were butt ugly, and they were sagging, I am replacing them with these little guys that i just recieved in the mail (4:30 today) Well, when i went to get my inspection (wells tire) He had me pull the bike in, then proceeded to check everything, he said low beam, turn it to low, taillight, ok, then he said "left signal" I said "no signals" and he suddenly got a crazy attitude with me saying that I should know that turn signals are needed on any vehicle and that i was wasting his time, then he failed me. I explained to him that i was a state licensed inspector and that I know without any doubt that signals are not required by the state of missouri for a 2 wheeled vehicle. His response "that the biggest horsesh*t I have ever heard" and that I "needed to get my bike the hell out of his bay" I went to his supervisor and had him call highway patrol, as he wasn't sure about the legality of it either. Turns out... I was right, he went out and told the guy to put my sticker on, and that he didn't lose the attitude he would be suspended for a few days. I win :-)

Sounds like a day full of bureaucratic roadblocks beaten by a man on a mission. Congrats!

Bobbed750, haha! That's funny how he thought you needed turn signals and his supervisor said other wise. Now as soon as we can get rid of all this dumb rain we can all go ride

Simply amazing how many people out there don't know the regs concerning their jobs. The inspector at Yamaha thinks that if you still have the little switch on the left handlebar, for signals, then the bike fails for not having "operating signals". If they would read the statutes again, it reads "signals" must work if installed. That is the lights themselves, not the switch, the wire, the connectors, etc. Just breaking off the switch still won't pass, in his judgement. Take your bike to Route 66 for inspection. They know what is required. Makes me wonder if a mechanic can't read for comprehension on such a matter, what else is he not getting, when actual work is required of him on a customer's bike? I'd stay away from him.

That's total baloney! the rule is if the light are on the bike they have to work, I havn't had turn signals on the LeMans for 20 yrs. I go to Rooks service station @ chase and N grant

Always worth taking a run at the cheeper solution. Can't afford to START by throwing money at every little issue.

I've got a little sign hanging on my toolbox to remind me that "Once a job is fowled up, any attempt to improve it, only makes it worse". Another one for the shop..."It takes money to go fast. How fast do you want to go?".

I agree in principle. The trick (that comes with experience) is in knowing where the tipping point is. Since this is all new to me i'm trying to force my self to work first and spend money later.
And there's no danger of me going fast no matter how much i spend. ;D
