You don't have to have turn signals to ride, in the state of Missouri all you have to have is a headlight/high beam, brake light/tail light. Just learn the hand signals and you will be fine.

Copperhead-
I can take a look at that this weekend if you want. I've done a fair share of electrical wiring on bikes, so I'm pretty confident I could fix your issue. I'll be at the ride on Saturday if you want to meet up (we'll probably have to do the actual electrical work on Sunday or Saturday evening if you want.
I think I have an LED diode for such a thing (I had changed from incandescent bulbs to LEDs on an older bike, and was still able to use the stock flasher as a result of the diode).
Reckon I'll see you on Saturday if you're going. If you're not, just drop me a message and we can figure out the scheduling.

hey thanks man, the bike isnt in my name yet, i havent had it inspected because the bike shops wont pass it with turn signals that dont function so my plates are old, aaaand i keep putting off getting my motorcycle license for whatever reason.
but its insured so ill probably just ride it out to meet everyone anyway.lol.

I was told, to pass inspection, that as long as you don't have a turn signal switch you don't have to have turn signals.

From the published inspection guidelines:
Lighting Equipment.
Headlights. Every vehicle shall be equipped with at least one (1) and not more than two (2) headlights. A headlight shall exhibit light substantially white in color. A motorcycle equipped with a sidecar or other attachment shall be equipped with a light on the outside limit of the attachment capable of displaying a white light to the front.
Taillights and reflectors. Every vehicle shall be equipped with at least one (1) red taillight and at least one (1) red reflector. Any vehicle with two (2) rear wheels shall be equipped with at least two (2) red taillights and two (2) red reflectors. A reflector may be part of the taillight or it may be separate. The taillight shall be mounted at a height of not more than seventy-two inches (72") nor less than fifteen inches (15") above the ground. The reflector shall be mounted at a height not greater than sixty inches (60") nor less than fifteen inches (15") above the ground. Page 40
Signaling devices. If the vehicle is equipped with turn signals and a stoplight, all must operate.
Inspect lighting equipment, reflectors and signaling devices.
Reject vehicle if: Not equipped with required headlight, taillights or reflectors A headlight has reflector deterioration A lens is badly broken, missing, incorrectly installed or repaired with tape Any light fails to function properly Any light or reflector is not securely mounted or shows a color contrary to law Beam indicator or dimmer switch, if so equipped, fails to operate properly A taillight or reflector is not mounted in the prescribed area
No mention of whether you can strip the turn signals but leave the switch in place.

That's just what the guy at Don & Son's Cycle told me over the phone. Judging by those guidelines, you'd be fine just pulling the lights and going on.

That's where I heard it too. You might check around at a few other shops and see what they say.
