A couple of add ons. Front tool bag. Fuel Cell tube. Off for a test run at Chadwick. Great (hard) ride and loaded on the the trailer. "Oh Snitzel"! This is NOT going to "buff out"...

Maybe. I'm gunna take a better look at it in the am to see if it's something i want to dig into. How hard to remove etc. One concern is, where is that chunk of steel? Could it have gone inside the case? I'll get with you. On another note. Wanna build me a skid plate?

Looks like a job for JB Weld. Yup i played this over in my mind all night. Would totally do it if it was on a vintage bike, but it seems that on the Z the water pump also shares a seal with that side-cover. And the hole in not just a hole but was some sort of oil check valve that must be on a trail at Chadwick now. Sooo tomorrow AM i'm hoping to get her on a trailer and out to Marionville so they can work on it while i'm gone for a week.

Tim, do you know what happened? Did you hit something or did something break on the inside? Keep us posted.

Tim - I was bouncing off of 'stair step" rocks all day long. Thinking i had better skid plate protection than i actually did. The damage was completely external and self inflicted. Live an learn...

Oh man, that's such a drag Tim. Hope they get it sorted for you.
I've got a bike that needs a skid plate, and was deliberating between the small (better looking) one and the large (ugly and expensive) one. Think ill go large...

Did you want me to make you a plate? No i ordered one. I have some other things in mind for once i get the bike back. We'll talk. Several parts problems have conspired and it looks like i won't have the bike back this weekend for our planned rides!

Well, after 3 very sad weeks and lot's of $, the "Rover" is back in the garage sporting a shiny new skid plate to help us forget the "unfortunate event". As usual, while i was waiting i was scheming... After reading about shorter, stiffer fenders helping with the "speed wobble" i ordered this baby. Then while cleaning up my bags and looking at how they were wearing i realized i needed to add some structure to the rear framing on the bike. Instead of buying expensive bag mounting hardware i'm attempting a cheeper solution. They won't have to hold up very long to recoup the $10 invested. Addressing the fuel range issues. 1.5 L each. A better towrope solution. Stay tuned to see how it all comes together over the next few days.

Despite the 21 degrees i had to accomplish at least one thing. The skid plate. Right side. Left side. Feeling good about the results considering i planned it all out from memory...
