Well, my xs400 was starting and running perfect for three days and today its not getting fire. What went wrong? I have looked at all the wires, and plugs, the switch majes a click sound when i turn it to run. Im lost. I am horrible with electronics so any help would be appreciated greatly. Thanks  |

What does it do when you kick it?

Check the battery & fuses
Then pull the spark plug from the head, plug it back into the cable, lay it on top of the head so it's touching metal, then kick it over and see if you've got a spark jumping the plug gap.
If you have no spark we'll have to figure out if that's due to the coil, condensor, points, etc. If you have spark then it could be that the timing is off or you've got fueling issues.

Yup. Do all of that.
If it's an 81 it probably has a CDI (no points).

Thanks guys, i figured it out, i have to do some wiring work looks like. The previous owner got rid of the fuse box and put sone gold metal looking relays in the wiring. A wire was loose. Gonna go through it this week and tighten everything up. Thanks ahain for getting back to me so quick.
