I have always been fascinated by Enfields. The thought of a new motorcycle built using 50+ year old technology sounds cool to me (insert your Harley joke here). This web site is the product of a guy that put two 350cc Enfield barrels together and made a 700cc v-twin. Kind of like a poor man's version of a British v-twin from the 30's. This kind of ingenuity just blows me away. www.musketvtwin.com/home.html

As soon as we get a good warm Saturday we can ride to Eldo and you can test ride a RE. They are cool. Not real smooth... Of corse you can ride some Triumphs too!

It's my understanding, that you need to be a decent "wrench" to own an Enfield. If wrenching on a new bike is attractive to you, then you're an Enfield candidate.

I'm told the new ones are better but...
My issue with it is that it's way too rough for any kind of speed. At most it would be a cool "grocery getter".
Anyway it's fun to test ride, but not in my list to own any time soon.

Count me in on the trip to Eldo, Randy's crew always puts a good scald on a hotdog on saturdays, but in my opinion save your enfield $$'s and get a Triumph! Randy however IS the best cycle dealer ever! I would never buy a new bike from anyone but Randy.

Brad: I believe that V-8 might have enough torque to even haul me off the starting line in grand style. Tim: Sounds good to me. But I may not be able to wait, and just drive my truck up there. Depends on how bored I get over the holidays.
It's been a few years since I've been to Eldorado Springs, but they were great when I was there. I asked about the RE's and the owner (Randy?) let me take his for a spin. Yeah, it was pretty slow, especially hauling me. He steered me towards a used Thruxton, and made me a heck of a deal on it, but that just wasn't my interest that day. Am I ever kicking myself thinking about that now!

I would be ready to go anytime... I agree with John, Randy's is a great dealer and always makes you feel welcome.. as you can see by Tim's photos he will let you ride anything he has, I buy all my Triumph parts there.. and yes the hotdogs and lemonaid hit the spot for your ride home..
