Thanks for the oil recommendation. I've read so many conflicting opinions online. I feel safe with Yamaha brand. I run generic outboard motor 2T oil in my '74 MT125... Then again, it kinda adds to the charm of the stinky, rusty old girl...

One thing I found useful in carb rebuilding is a welding tip cleaning tool. It will let you remove the loosened debris from the passages before rinsing the carbs. Available anywhere. I think my latest one came from Harbor Freight.

Any generic solvent such as mineral spirits will clean/strip any petroleum product with enough patience and elbow grease and sometimes with the help of a few tools. When starting out there will be lots of gimmicks out there to try and get your money. I still don't believe in "specialty" tools or fluids (except for Kroil when it comes to anti-seize) and then of course some other very high tech stuff. But generally a little Aryan ingenuity will go a long way. Join your favorite forum for your model and get to asking questions there. If you are gonna ride you must know how to work on your own stuff or else payin another guy 100 an hour for anything is what you will get rapped at! Good fortune!

It's been a while but I've fired up the kerosene heater and set a goal to finish by spring. I finally bought a can of berrymans carb soak and after soaking for 4 days they're clean and reassembled with NOS keyster carb rebuild kits. I'm not much for carb tuning though and am going to need advice. I've got a list of questions and parts needed too. If you have any of these for sale let me know. New tires Clubman bars Sandblasting and powder coating wheels, tank, and side covers. (Any recommendations?) New throttle cable and throttle (old one is stuck to old rusty bars.) Battery Not sure of engine condition. Never tried to start it Is there a way to clean out the crankcase without disassembly? HELP!!! Attachments:

Does anyone know if there is any harm in sandblasting the jugs on this bike? Thanks.
