Mark your calendars! The 2014 Pre-1937 Motorcycle Cannonball Endurance Run (Coast to Coast) kicks off September 5, 2014 and has 2 stops in Missouri. Click HERE for the Route & Schedule. To see this many examples of early iron, in running condition, is pretty rare, so it might be fun to check 'em out. If anybody has an interest just reply here and we'll see if it warrants trying to figure out some logistics.

I'm in. I think Sedalia is closer but Cape Girardeau is a nicer ride. All the fun will the visiting and repairs at the end of the day. Any thoughts on an overnighter? ROAD TRIP!

vintage-riders.com/thread/1530/2014-motorcycle-cannonball-mark-calenderuhh. . . . .Yeah. But if ya'll plan on spending the night in a motel you had better book quick. I just spoke with the Auburn Place Hotel and they have just a few rooms left for the night of the 9th. Book now, non-refundable $85 includes taxes etc. If you blocked some rooms maybe cheaper I dunno. The reviews on google were good. Or I might just take a sleeping bag and try this place. Primitive camping available in Lake Girardeau Camping Area. BBQ grills, picnic tables, gravel parking pads. No electricity or water hook ups.

If the ride is for motorcycles made prior to 1937, won't they have to have some people checking to make sure no one is sneaking in any modern Harleys, since their technology hasn't changed in nearly 100 years? ;-)

I hadn't given logistics much thought, but I guess I should have. I'll try to do a little research tonight. And thanks to all who have already got the ball rolling.

No use wasting valuable energy on people that don't understand what true American iron feels like I know what it feels like. I'm constantly having to swerve to avoid it when it's scattered all over the road and will often stop to pick up the pieces and toss them to the curbside. It's heavy and cumbersome, and often coated with a thin veneer of oil.

Hey Josh- Just saw an article speculating about a new "electric" motorcycle from Harley. Did they have to go to such extreme lengths to get rid of those pesky oil leaks? Just messin' with you, man.

Aren't HD part-owned by Honda now anyway?

Aren't HD part-owned by Honda now anyway? Makes sense. The bikes are assembled in America, true, but the parts come from Taiwan, Mexico, China, Japan, and a few other places I can't currently recall. I worked in a Harley shop in my early 20's for a bit, and was amazed that all those "American" bikes had their components come from everywhere else but America.

In "my early 20's", or "the early 20's"?
