I just found that Cruisin 66 has discounted their shop rate of $65/HR to $45/HR for the month of January.
Sorry I did not check sooner. I was told that if the bike was there by the end of the month, that the discount would apply even if the work was not completed until then.........but I would call to make sure (891-9998). They are located on S. Glenstone just North of Bennett on the east side of the street.

I went up there when I was having my carb probs and was basically told to get lost by the gal at the parts counter. All I wanted to do was ask one of the mechanics a couple of questions and maybe give them my business. When I told the lady what I rode, she rolled her eyes, told me I'm "not getting past her" (like I had hopped over the counter or something!) and that Arle was on the clock and they "dont pay him to do that". I have no idea who that gal was but if that's how they treat someone just wanting to ask a couple of questions, let alone a possible customer, no wonder the parking lot is always empty.

That kind of treatment is un-forgivable.
I wish Wes was on her and could respond...

I've had similar experiences there in the past and know it's happened to plenty other people too. C66 is kind of like the Sienfeld episode "The Soup Nazi". Having access to a mechanic with Arlee's talent is worth it to me. The way I work it is, to not go through the front door, but to go through the back door. Problem solved.

@cb350jockey, that was my intent when I was there, to speak to Arlee since I had heard for years that he was the man to ask about anything Honda. All I wanted was an experts advice on how to solve a problem, and if he could do it I would've thrown my business to 'em. As I was walking out the door, I couldn't help but wonder what the owner would've thought about the parts counter gal turning away business!

the gal behind the parts counter was the owner. I can understand how you feel, but they have the best soup in town . Let me know who you find to work on your CB550. It's beautiful outside...I am going riding.

I'm shocked that Nan reacted that way

I was actually WANTING Arlee to do the work. With all the modifications I've done it really needs an expert to fine tune it.

I vote that at the next meeting we take a moment to hold hands and have a group hug in support of all members who are shocked and dismayed by the actions of bike shop owners.
Oh, by the way...the C66 parking lot was pretty full last saturday when I dropped off my '72 Honda CB350 for a tuneup.

I have gotten similar response from the owners wife when I went to C66 on my Triumph, when she found out I deal with Randy @ ElDorado, the conversation turned into a Randy Lusk bashing session, I let her finish and then I told her I'd been riding trials with him for 20 years or so, I think I may have even told her he was a pall bearer at my dad's funeral just to top it off. But Arlee is a GREAT guy and mechanic.

I don't know about anybody else there, never had many needs to go there. However, one of they're techs (Mikey IIRC) was a freaking saint in the "Church of Last Minute at Home Garage Repairs". Dude stayed several hours after they closed ON A SATURDAY to help pull the clutch of a bro of mine's Buell. He did it in the back of Josh's truck. Afterwards, when Josh asked how much, he didn't want to even charge him. Mikey acted like it was no big deal. Josh gave him a 50 for the "beer fund" anyway.
The few dealings I've ever had with them were all with the service department, and were always positive. I wasn't there when this all occurred, but maybe you guys caught them on a bad day.

Picked up both bikes last night. $300 for the doohicky job on my KLR and valve adjust and carb sync on my 350four. The 350 starts so easy now I am considering removing the starter and big battery. Arlee told me I need bigger main jets to compensate for the pod air filters. The owners were very friendly and stayed late so I would not have to miss work to pick up the bikes.
