Hey guys, looking for input/suggestions on getting a good seal on my MT125's exhaust connection. The pieces that make up the seal are no longer available and I'm leaking quite a bit of exhaust out the connection of the pipe to the cylinder. Here's a couple of shots of the exploded view from the parts book: The parts that make up the seal are #14 in the first shot and #6 in the second. Right now I've taken some strands from a piece of copper electrical wire, wrapped it around in the groove where #14 seats, forcing it out a little bit, and then put #14 back in place. That worked for a little while but after about 50mi of riding the exhaust is back to leaking.

Wow 13 & 14 in the first image with 5 & 6 in the second image sure seem like a lot of design for a purpose that escapes me.
Wonder what the reason to have that all connected up with springs is?
I'd be tempted to weld 13 directly to 2 (the exhaust) and call it good.
Course I'M the last guy i'd take motor advice from... ;D
So, Brad? Josh? TimP? What say you boys?

Springs and slip joints are used extensively in 2T exhausts due to the frequency in which they vibrate. Without a little bit of "fuse", welds don't last long.
You're welcome to bring it by and we can sort through my junk to see if we can come up with something that'll last a bit.

Thanks guys! brad, I'll definitely take you up on that. Hopefully this weekend but I'll have to see what the boss has planned. kb850, count me in on your headlight issue. Happy to help even without compensation. Pm me the specifics of your bike, model/year etc & I'll do some research to find a schematic.
