Seth M painted the tank on my KLR for a fair price and did a nice job of it, too.

I have also done spray can painting that actually works well. This project is a little different due to the S/N. I think the value will be greater if "properly" done. No objections to spray cans though. The guy that has done ALL my paint work retired last year so I'm looking for a replacement. Seth, are you available?

With the engine sidelined for fear of throwing it across the yard, I am getting a rolling chassis finished to minimize the possibility of losing parts. Front end finished. New steering head bearings. Frame crack welded, finished and frame painted. Rear wheel came today. Decals are here. Body parts are at the sandblasters. The rear shocks have been cleaned up. These shocks can be dismantled for repair. Check to see if you have a small roll pin just below the upper mount. If you do, drive it out - no fear. Compress the spring [not at all difficult] and insert an open end wrench in the exposed nut. spin off the upper mount and it's apart! The end of this week should see the bodywork ready for paint. The color is being matched now. Parts cleaning is about all I will be doing for the next week. I can lace the new wheel and get the K81 Dunlop mounted so I can hide the thing in a corner for a while. Talk to you soon

UPDATE NOVEMBER 1, 2013The engine spent a couple of hours in a 500 degree ceramic oven to try and loosen the cylinders. FAILSo I laced the new rear rim and now have a rolling chassis. Last week I picked up the body work from the sandblasters and delivered them to the paint shop. They immediately went into primer. I told him no hurry so we are looking at the first of December. I will spend until then cleaning, stripping and straightening the various brackets and fittings, reworking the wiring harness and just getting organised. I might even work on the engine a little. Until next time........................

2 DOWN- 1 TO GO! I worked on the H-2 a little and had success with 1 of the cylinders. "How did he do it?" you ask. Well I started by taking a piece of 5/8 inch threaded rod and grinding it to fit the head bolt hole. Then I center drilled a 1/8 inch hole to pilot through the center of the stud. Next I cut a head bolt so the head would lie flush on top of the cylinder. Drilling a 3/8 hole in the head bolt allowed me to center drill the stud and off it came. Seems only one stud freezes to the cylinders [at least on mine]so that's what was drilled.
The stud came right out of the case, no problem. One cylinder to go.

Update? Yeah, I got your update. I think my painter abandoned me. I am trying to contact him this week to see if I can pick up the pieces as is and we can both take our losses. When I was unable to contact him back in February [he promised me finished product by Christmas], I went by the house and nobody home. A couple of weeks later I was eating lunch in town and who should walk in the place but Jim the painter. He assured me that the parts were nearly done but he was forced to get another job due to some bad checks and non payment of other work. I told him all I wanted was for him to keep me posted as to progress. That's the last I heard from him! What gives? I've taken on a couple of other projects to clear my head. I just finished an NR50 Honda [mini motocross] and will take on a 175 Elsinor next week. As soon as I get the H-2 body work back home I will let you know. Should have a few photo's next time.

Patience noun from latin patientia: The quality of being patient; the character or habit of mind that enables one to suffer afflictions, provocation, or other evil, with a calm unruffled temper, quietness, composure in waiting for something to happen; perseverance. [from the 1954 book of knowledge] Why am I telling you this? THE THIRD CYLINDER CAME OFF AT 8:30 THIS MORNING!My last log was on Sept. 2013 whining about the electrolosis freezing the stud to the cylinder. I raised it enough [with minor case damage] to hack saw the problem stud. All studs came out of the case with no problems. I am ready for crank rebuild and case cleanup. Happy day. You will find a few photo's missing from here on out as I had a virus in the old photo sharing site. I will update as I can.
