Everyone else has a starting point picture, so here's mine. By kb850l at 2012-05-10 This picture is from about an hour after i got the bike home. Haden't even touched it yet. By kb850l at 2012-05-10 After five hours of work, I had the carbs back on it, the fairing off, the wiring hooked up right and the tank and plastics painted. By kb850l at 2012-05-10 This is my current status, gave the tank a two tone concept paint job, not permanent, but it's better than chipped paint and rust. Also got the air box on and the carb leak stopped, and excess wires ripped out. All i'm missing is the headlight brackets and I will be able to take this beautiful machine down the highway.

Quick update. I got bored yesterday and was looking at my bike, and realized that I have a dirtbike with a working headlight and attached turn signals, and racing style handlebars.... I'm saving the rest until later to build the suspense. Stay tuned

This is how she has been sitting for a while By kb850l at 2012-05-27 Then one day i got bored, and was staring at my DT 175 that was sitting in the shed, and saw the headlight/turn signal setup and the handlebars, and got an inspiration from reading bobbeds xs400 post... By kb850l at 2012-06-22 First i took the old seat apart from my GS.... and thanks to the miracle of tin snips, i went from this.... By kb850l at 2012-06-22 to this.... By kb850l at 2012-06-22 Painted the headlight bucket a filler primer color, then added a smoked effect with green enamel... By kb850l at 2012-06-22 then put all the but the new handlebars on annnnnnd.... By kb850l at 2012-06-22 here's a pic with the new handlebars By kb850l at 2012-06-22 kind of a bad angle, but i haven't learned how to float over a 16' ranger yet, so that's what ya get! Stay tuned!

Well, today was a productive day for me, broke out the drill and sawzall, and did some creative thinking. We all recall the sissy bar that was on the bike yes? No? anyhow, when i bobbed the fender i had to take it off. When i did this i realized how flemsy it was. So much, in fact, that i could bend it with my hands. I used this to my advantage as part of my "Concept solo seat". I attached it to the old chopped in half seat, and found a way to mount it. The result..... By kb850l at 2012-06-25 another angle By kb850l at 2012-06-25 After that, I attacked the old crappy looking paint job i had done before with a sanding wheel (forgot to take a before and after picture x.x). I used painters tape to kinda put a .... idk..... whatever pattern on it. With tape By kb850l at 2012-06-25 after tape By kb850l at 2012-06-25 By kb850l at 2012-06-25 By kb850l at 2012-06-25 Haven't put the tank back on the bike yet, but i think it like it. Now for where i'm at. I need- Cables that are the right lenght. as the new handlebars have made the old ones too long. Electrical work done, count a fuse box in with this because i don't know my own strenght. A back tire, forgot to look at the size but god knows i need it bad. A brake expert, back caliper is locked on the rotor and I am not inclined to brakes at all. If only everything on a bike ran as good as the bike looked, eh? Stay tuned.

Almost looks like a Union Jack on that tank. Nicely done. If "The Riddler" invaded Briton that would be his flag. ;D

Anybody free this weekend who knows brakes and electrical stuff? I'm great at hooking up HDMI cables. But that's the extend of my electrical knowledge. Let me know if you need some air in your brake system. That I can do too.
